Shahrukh Khan has held the title of being Bollywood’s King Khan until now. Of late, things are taking a different turn. Many Bollywood fans as well as top brands are now turning to Aamir Khan; this is primarily because Aamir has class and decency, not to forget intellect. Shahrukh Khan (SRK) had won the hearts of millions over the past couple of decades but people are now realizing him to be only an entertainer. Aamir was the one who wholeheartedly supported the Indian cricket team at the stadium during the World Cricket Cup 2011, and partied all night with the achievers. Aamir’s patriotism is evident in the movies he directs or acts in: Lagaan, Mangal Pandey and Rang De Basanti to name a few. Other movies such as Fanna and Ghajini have patriotic implications. The new King Khan seems to have a desire to change India for the better as he seems to expose the underhand activities that go on in the country. There is also a TV commercial where two Western tourist girls are being taunted by the local taxi/rickshaw drivers to hire their vehicles, while getting too close; Aamir then steps in to protect these girls and says to the drivers that their behavior is unpleasing to the foreigners and hence a shame to India. The superstar has the knack to relate to his audience. Unlike Shahrukh Khan, Aamir does not give his viewers the same act in every movie and commercial. He has exceptional talent in taking on any role, while giving himself completely to the character he has taken up or to the brand he is advertising. It is apparent that he is not a mere entertainer for money; his passion is obvious in his productions. Aamir always has something fresh to offer each time. This is where the difference between the two Khans is: Aamir is multi-faceted, while Shahrukh Khan is monotonous. It seems Aamir was busy using his intelligence when SRK was the superstar over the years. And Aamir’s plans and strategies have worked out. He is a planner and hence plans his steps carefully. Although his films have usually been successful, Aamir had still decided to stay off the mainstream media until much later when he rose not only to stardom in Bollywood but over the media in general. While Shah Rukh Khan had usurped the title of King Khan, with the rise of the new superstar the position undoubtedly belongs to Aamir Khan because he deserves it. He seems to have more in mind than just wealth and fame; his zest is definitely an inspiration to the Indian youth who are the leaders of tomorrow. Not only have the public and the brands realized this, but also the top directors like Farah Khan, Yash Raj and Karan Johar to name a few. He has got style, he has got class, he has got intellect, he has got passion; he has got what most other entertainers do not – a vision and purpose, which makes him the ideal King Khan.
