Shah Rukh Khan's next big release Ra.One may be months away from its theatrical release but the highly anticipated film has already started raking in the moolah. In what could be termed as one of the biggest satellite deals, Star India has acquired the satellite rights of Ra.One for a whopping Rs.40 crore. It may be recalled that in the past, one of the highest satellite deals was that of Multi Screen Media (Sony Entertainment and Set Max) acquiring the Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots for Rs. 36 crore.

Ra.One starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal is produced under SRK's banner Red Chillies Entertainment. The film, which promises never before seen visual effects, is directed by Anubhav Sinha. These days from the production house's point of view, pre-selling various rights like satellite and home video helps de-risk the effort by reducing the dependence on revenues from theatres and if this deal is anything to go by, then Ra.One has indeed nailed it big time.
