The big trend in Bollywood today is signing a new face rather than producing good movies. It’s all about eye candy these days, and acting ability seems to come second.
Ever since Bollywood bombshell Katrina Kaif became India’s most successful actresses, Bollywood directors have been keen to take on actors from outside of India. We’re talking about Brazilian model, Giselli Monteiro, who caught the eyes of Jab We Met director Imitiaz Ali who casted her in his next movie, Love Aaj Kal opposite Saif Ali Khan. Giselli will play the part of a Punjabi girl.
To those who thought the 22-year-old would be a flash in the pan, think again, as the model will be starring in one of Shahrukh Khan’s home productions. SRK, who’s currently busy with his home production, Ra One spotted Giselli in Love Aaj Kal and wanted to cast her in one his own movies alongside a bunch of newcomers.
The movie is titled, Always Kabhi Kabhi, and Giselli plays a NRI from London who comes to India to pursue further studies. However, ever since Giselli found out that it was Shah Rukh’s decision to cast her in the movie, she can’t wait to thank him. Shah Rukh even passed on valuable tips to the director to share with Giselli, but why not face to face? According to SRK he didn’t want to impose his star power on the newbie and wanted her to be as natural as possible during the filming.
Giselli recently stated, "There were opportunities after Love Aaj Kal, but at that time I didn’t feel too comfortable about picking up something immediately. I was still learning the language and wanted to be much better in my next outing."
Although it’s a wise move, let’s hope that Giselli's big break pays off on the silver screen.
