Shahrukh Khan salutes the Indian flag

The average Indian will have enormous respect for the national flag. No tricolour on underwear or blankets for them. The Indian flag is an object of great nationalistic pride for its countrymen. And Bollywood adds its filmi bit to that, even becoming jingoistic in its praise of the motherland and its symbols. Remember the many times that NRIs get teary-eyed at a mere glimpse of the tricolour in Karan Johar films. Or that moment in Roja, when Arvind Swamy’s character literally jumps into the fire to save the flag? Other times, it is not dramatic; the flag makes a fleeting appearance in the background, but we do see it and think fondly of our desh.
