BANGALORE: She loves to portray women on canvas and some proud collectors of her immortal art include Shahrukh Khan, Vijay Mallya, Hema Malini and Yash Chopra. Former Miss India, Anjanna Kuthiala who is famous for making portraits of Shahrukh Khan, will showcase her latest work at The Taj West End in association with Satya Paul, from March 26 to April 2.As a prelude, she exhibited her collection of paintings in Mantri Square on Tuesday.Anjanna’s artistic eyes that spotted the unique beauty of vibrant Bangalore has managed to transfer the imagery on to the canvas. The artist with over 35 exhibitions against her name feels that Bangalore is a city with soul. Her latest work titled, A Tribute to Bangalore on Canvas speaks volumes of her inexplicit love and affinity for the Garden City.Talking to Expresso she says, “what makes this city special to me is the people with unbelievable warmth. Even the ultra rich here are grounded and do not flaunt their wealth, value, status and achievements.” The internationally recognised painter seems to be flattered with the city’s unmatched beauty as she adds, “the green cover over the city is amazing and the place pulls me back into its lap every year. I keep coming back and bid adieu with pleasant memories of the people and some wonderful landscapes.” Talking about her paintings, Anjanna says that her latest collection has the essence and feelings of Bangalore. The artist inside her needed to connect at some level and it connected well with the city, which she considers her second home. “My paintings have some giants like UB City and new age companies like Infosys, Wipro and Biocon on the canvas. My experience in UB has been something special. I connect with the city and I am in love with every nook and corner of it.The amazing expanse of golf courses right in the centre of the paradise amazes me out of proportion. The spiritual side of the city with the kind of spiritual awareness it brings to the country is unmatched. Moreover, Save the Girl Child initiative was started in Bangalore and one of my paintings is a tribute to the city for raising its voice in favour of such a noble cause.” Even before her first exhibition that was held in Delhi about two decades ago, Anjanna represented India at The Miss World beauty pageant in 1975. Her most important exhibition in recent times has been on India’s biggest star Shahrukh Khan titled, SRK — A poem of art in cinema.“I did not choose SRK. It was like God working through him who made me do that. Shahrukh is a human being much bigger than the star in him. If not a superstar, he would have been a spiritual guru,” says Anjanna. `
