IPL 2011, Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Kochi Tuskers

UNDER THE motivational leadership of captain Gautam Gambhir, the Shahrukh Khan owned Kolkata Knight Riders have every chance to qualify for the first time in the last four stage of the Indian Premier League.

The team will be all primed up when it enters the ground of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi in the 45th match of the IPL 2011 against Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the afternoon of Thursday, May 5.


With 12 points in hand from nine matches, Kolkata Knight Riders is at the second place in the points table, whereas Mahela Jayawardene-led Kochi Tuskers Kerala has eight points from nine matches, and the team is at the sixth place in the points table. Including today's match, bothKnight Riders and Kochi Tuskers have to play five more games in the Indian Premier League 2011.

Kolkata Knight Riders has lost three matches so far in the IPL 4 including one against Kochi Tuskers. In the previous meeting between Kolkata and Kochi, the Tuskers won over against Riders by six runs on April 20 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens.

After batting first, the Kochi team scored 132 runs for the loss of seven wickets. In reply, Knight Riders managed to score only 126 runs for nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Captain Gambhir and Jacques Kallis departed on cheap and only Manoj Tiwary added valuable runs for his team.

In the list of leading run getters in the IPL 2011, three Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen including captain Gautam Gambhir, Jacques Kallis and Manoj Tiwary are in the top ten list. In the bowling department, Riders left-arm orthodox bowler Iqbal Abdulla is at the second place with 12 wickets.

The Kochi team has a number of talented players such as match winners including captain Mahela Jayawardene, Brendon McCullum, Parthiv Patel, Brad Hodge, Ravindra Jadeja, RP Singh, Sreesanth and Muttiah Muralitharan.
