Even though Salman Khan has beaten all records when it comes to the Indian box-office, the overseas market still belongs to King Khan
Salman Khan has surely become the new box-office king in India with his last release Bodyguard. Its staggering collections have made it the biggest opener, beating earlier biggies like Dabangg, 3 Idiots and My Name Is Khan. In the UK market though, the story is a little different. Bodyguard saw a collection of £840,000 in its opening week there, making it the second highest opening in the country for a Bollywood film, after My Name Is Khan which had opened with £936,000. Guess Salman will have to work a lot harder if he wants to beat Shahrukh’s track record in the overseas territories. For the moment, SRK continues to rule the UK market as his MNISK maintains its record for the biggest opening in the country.
Interestingly, the Tamil flick Mankatha got a decent opening with £110,000. Bol, on the other hand, earned about £93,000.
