Shah Rukh takes care to ensure no sleaze in his home production

Mumbai, May 31, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio / Kreation Guru) The etymology of a word had the proverbial Bollywood Badshah in quite a bit of bother. Centering on a song of his forthcoming flick- ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’- a part of his home banner; a word sounding as “undie” took the dashingly cool superstar by a great deal of unpleasantness. So much so that Abbas- the man in charge of direction had to pin point to the bothered producer through a whole lot of research papers how the word used in a phrase “undie the condie” is neither sleazy nor abusing.

Disgruntled S.R.K obviously wanted to have an easy way out with the Censor Board, because in the present scenario a number of songs and words used in the scripts are incurring the displeasure of the statutory body. So the calculative superstar wanted to have a thorough review of the concerned phrase so as not to be at the receiving end of this legal body.

The B town Badshah was then thoroughly explained the word’s etymological nuances and how it formed a part of the modern generations’ S.M.S vocabulary. Shah Rukh was of the opinion that the sleazy sounding “undie” sounded similar to “kundie” which meant’ bum’ in the Southern dialect. Clarifying the point RoshanAbbas gave him a reassuring explanation as to the use of the concerned phrase. According to the latter, a thorough research reveals how the catchy phrase rampant in Northern India implies something as simple as – [understanding the condition of the given situation.] Abbas also pointed out how the said phrase was popular amongst the youngsters and the school crowd of North India. The popularity of the phrase (undie the condie ) has picked up over the recent years.

In keeping with the thematic content of the film which is supposed to appeal to the younger lot many such phrases gearing to S.M.S language has been used. Apart from the fear provoking “undie the condie”, the other one is JFI which connotes as –“just forget it”. The striking array of short forms and abbreviations had the producer Shah Rukh stunningly amazed. Obviously there has been sweeping technological and economic changes touching various aspects of social fabric since the time S.R.K made it to the film industry. Film being the social mirror is bound to reflect the norms, idiosyncrasies and dialectal uses of its time.

The film which has been produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s home banner-‘Red Chilles Entertainment’ is slated for release on the 17th of June. The flick geared to youthful entertainment includes Zoa Morani, Ali Fazal, Satyajeet Dubey and Giselle Monteiro other than Shah Rukh himself in its star cast.S.R.K is slated to act out in a cameo sequence. It remains to be seen if ‘Always Kabhie Kabhi’ which happens to be RoshanAbbas ’s first directorial venture has enough flair to deliver the needed punch at the box office. With a series of youthful entertainers making it to the box office, it will be interesting to watch if the novelty in phrasing makes it stand out from the rest.

Shahrukh Khan the perfectionist

Shahrukh Khan is taking a hands-on approach for his forthcoming production Always Kabhi Kabhi. Even though SRK has had limited engagement with the young stars, he has left them with important lessons for their Bollywood journey.

The latest incident to be narrated by the film director Roshan Abbas, is about the lesson in perfection. No, Shahrukh did not use a crafted speech to educate the youngsters but instead led by example. Before SRK shot the song Antenna with the young cast of Always Kabhi Kabhi, he practiced the steps as many as 20 times before giving the shoot in front of the camera.

To the amazement of the young cast of AKK, it was Shahrukh Khan practicing with the choreographer, again and again; wanting to make sure that everything would be perfect when he got in front of the camera. Not just that, SRK was even keen to learn the lyrics to give the perfect shoot!

Have a look at the Antenna song video featuring SRK, who shows us dance moves as grooves to the remixed version of the song Antenna.

Shahrukh surprises AKK cast members

The cast members of Always Kabhi Kabhi were curious to know what it was like to shoot a big budget film like Ra.One and Shah Rukh surprised them by showing them portions of the sci-fi thriller.

Apparently, it was after the shoot for the song Antenna that the cast got to view the first rushes of Ra.One and that too in the most unexpected of places -- Shahrukh’s vanity van.

Always Kabhi Kabhi

Always Kabhi Kabhi, is a tale of four friends in the last year of their school. Directed by theatre artist-actor-host Roshan Abbas, the movie is inspired from his popular 1999 play Graffiti. Starring Giselle Monteiro (the Punjabi kudi of Love Aaj Kal), newcomer Zoa Morani, the handsome Ali Fazal (who played the suicidal Jay Lobo in 3 Idiots) and Satyajeet Dube, the Nana Saheb of the popular serial Jhansi Ki Rani, Always Kabhi Kabhi promises to take you back to the golden period of your school life.

The film is slated to release on June 17.

Now A-list actors turn items!

With item numbers becoming a craze all over, our A-list stars are seen adding more and more such numbers in their kitty. In the upcoming films, a bevy of Bollywood biggies will be seen moving their belly on some sassy numbers in the upcoming films this year.

Here, we take a look at some of the celebs who are all set to raise the mercury this year with their moves.

Shahrukh Khan: The Baadshah Khan of Bollywood, Shahrukh is all set to recreate the magic of ‘Dard-e-disco’ in his upcoming production ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’. Though, the film does not star the superstar in it, SRK has performed a special number ‘Antenna’ as a promotional tool for the film. It is said that Shahrukh flew in between IPL matches to shoot for the song choreographed by Bosco-Caeser and shot the number in the backdrop of a jail. He also worked hard on his body to get into shape for the catchy number.

Ranbir Kapoor: For the first time in his career, Ranbir Kapoor will perform an item number titled ‘Tayyn Tayyn Fissh’ in ‘Chillar Party’. Interestingly, in a candid chat, the Kapoor boy revealed that with this number, he is paying a tribute to his father Rishi Kapoor by emulating his looks from the popular number ‘Pardah’ from Amar Akbar Anthony’. Meanwhile, a source revealed that while shooting the song, Ranbir liked dancing so much that he even adding few steps of own into it. Choreographer by Bosco-Caser, the song is basically a qawwali number.

Mallika Sherawat: After shaking her belly with Akshay Kumar on ‘Razia gundo main phas gayi’ in ‘Thank You’, Mallika Sherawat recently shot steamy numbers for ‘Double Dhamaal’ and ‘Bin Bulaye Baraati’. Interestingly, Mallika was recently in news on the sets of BBB where she refused to shoot with elderly actors like Om Puri, Gulshan Grover and Johnny Lever and shot her scenes separately. Choreographer by Ganesh Aacharya, the number ‘Shalu Ke Thumke’ will see Mallika taking on last year’s popular numbers ‘Munni’ and ‘Sheila’ in the lyrics.

Katrina Kaif: News was there that after ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’, Katrina Kaif vowed never to do another item number. However, latest reports say that Imran Khan has chosen the lady to perform a number in his upcoming ‘Delly Belly’. The song has been conceptualized recently as part of promotions for the film. Recently, at an event when Imran was asked why he chose Kat to do the number in his film, the actor said jokingly that he found her jawaani very attractive. Not many know that names like Deepika Padukone and Mallika Sherawat were also considered for the peppy number of ‘Delly Belly.

Well, all can we say that the item girls seems to have become an old term for industry wallahs, as our A-list celebs are no more coy about grooving on raunchy number in films.

Shahrukh Khan to set a new record with 'Ra.One'

Trust Shahrukh Khan to pull out all the stops to promote his films. And when the movie happens to be his dream project Ra.One, expect something new, unique and grandiose.

While actors normally begin promoting their films just a month ahead of their release, Shahrukh Khan is embarking on a unique pan-India promotional tour that will last as long as five months until the release of Ra.One on October 26 this year.

The campaign begins today in Mumbai and will soon travel to five cities: Delhi, Chandigarh, Indore and Ahmedabad. Shahrukh will soon unveil a promo of the film in the five cities. So far, only a teaser of Ra.One has been released.

But it’s not this pan-India tour that’s getting Shahrukh Khan a place in record books. Rather, the superstar hopes to create a new record by circulating the longest Ra.One fan mail before the film’s release.

The feat would hopefully find a place in the Limca Book of Records.

As for the promotional tour, Shahrukh will travel to a lot of cities and towns before the release of Ra.One. The film’s other stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal will join him in later stages of promotion.

Leaked song: Akon's number "Chammak Challo" from Ra. One

I guess we wont be able to hear this song until the movie promo comes out as this is an unofficial leaked song that was available online. The song is currently blocked from hearing. Very rightly so.

But for those who gave the song a hear, the song will definetely be a rage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is Akon's song in SRK's Ra. One. This song is picturised on Kareena Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan. Read Akon's interview here where he talks about his first Hindi song Chammak Challo and also a news article about Kareena following a diet plan for Chammak Challo. So this seems to be the song for Ra One.

The song is quite catchy. It reminds me a lot of Akon's hit Smack That. One thing is for sure, the song is going to rule the music charts for some time.

Akon’s first Hindi song

Singing is a part of art, and Indians understand music a lot, as there is a wide range of music in this land itself," says Akon. We caught up with Akon to talk to him about Bollywood, India, his first Indian song and much more.

Indian fans
I was surprised to know how many fans I have here in India, especially in North and South India. They love me so much! So, I decided to tour in Bangalore, Delhi and Gurgaon. I will be playing hit chart numbers, as per audience demand. I wish I could perform all over the country, but because of time issues, i can't. The next time I perform in India, it will be in the rest of the cities, for sure.

Bollywood
Firstly, thanks to Shah Rukh Khan, who introduced me to Bollywood. I am very happy to be a part of it now. It's an amazing industry, with a great audience. In India, you have a large audience. Some day, I would love to act in Bollywood movies too, though I am not sure of the kind of movie to be in.

Chummuk Chullo
For my fans in India and all over the world who understand Hindi, I have sung a song in my new album called Stadium. The song is called Chummuk Chullo. It was very challenging to sing the song, especially the pronunciation, but it turned out well.

Favourite Indian singers
I like Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan a lot. They are really big talents over here. India has a wide range of artists. I have collaborated with Adesh Shrivastava too, and it was a great experience.

Inspiration
I usually get inspired when I am travelling. I have recorded so many songs while I am travelling. In my next album, Stadium, you will heard a lot of travel songs. I am sure Indian tourists will connect with my songs.

DON 2 has nothing to do with original

He may have got plenty of help from the Salim-Javed storyline of the original Don (1978) while scripting Don: The Chase Begins Again with Shah Rukh Khan, but for the sequel, Farhan Akhtar admits he's starting afresh. "Because it was a remake the story had to be somewhat similar. But for Don 2, it was like starting with a clean slate. I had the opportunity to do whatever I wanted to with those characters," says Farhan.

But it is his next release as an actor, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD), that is getting his attention these days. "Zoya's (director, sister Zoya Akhtar) film is releasing on July 15, and we want to leave no stone unturned. So Don 2 is on hold for a while, even through all the preparatory work is done. It will release in December as planned," says the actor-director.

Ask him if Don 2 may get lost in the crowd, given Bollywood's packed schedule for December and that SRK's Ra.One would appear at the same time, Farhan retorts, "Ours is a much awaited film, and there's been a healthy buzz about it even without a single promo on air. I don't think it's risky at all. The year-end is a great time to release a film."http://www.hindustantimes.com/images/HTEditImages/Images/farhan-akhtar.jpg

ZNMD, meanwhile, has been racking up comparisons to Farhan's cult directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai (2001) and Hollywood hit The Hangover (2009). "Of course ZNMD will be reminiscent of Dil Chahta Hai. It has three guys, a car that's playing an important role, and one of them finding love along the way on the road trip. But it's unfair to compare them, because the stories are completely different, and so are the characters. As for The Hangover, I didn't know they had a copyright over bachelor trips," he laughs.

Farhan also lights up at the mention of ZNMD's extended shooting stint in Spain. "It didn't feel like a staged road trip because we actually did travel that much," he says, adding, "We shot at about 107 locations and stayed at 12 to 13 different bases."

He's even sung a song in the film, but that didn't feature in Farhan's recent Pond's Fun in the Sun concert in the city, where he belted out hits from Rock On!! (2008). "I wanted to play songs that people were familiar with. Maybe once the music releases, we'll plan an event of this sort," he says hopefully.

'It's best to just ignore rumours'

It was alleged in sections of the press that Farhan Akhtar was having an affair with one of his assistant directors. Enraged at that time, he had decided to take legal action. He had said, "I'm surprised and upset by the complete disregard of the sense of ethics and lack of sensitivity. The article is nothing but misleading and the statements and insinuation made by the author have no basis in fact."

However, Farhan has now decided against filing the case. "Not only will I have to keep going to court, but I'll also have to keep seeing them constantly, which is not something I'm interested in," he says, adding, "This is not the first, but it's been getting more and more ludicrous every time it happens. I felt they had gone too far this time."

The actor-director justifies his earlier outburst by saying, "Whatever rumours have been published earlier, people have had the courtesy to ask me for my side of the story.

"This time, they didn't even bother to do that. Anyway, I think it's best to just ignore it now."

SRK goes back to school.

In a promo for his upcoming production, Shah Rukh Khan asks, “Do you ever look back on your school days? Do you remember those first memories?”

Always Kabhi Kabhi, theatre personality Roshan Abbas’s debut movie, is based on teenage life and its problems. And real-life incidents dealin g with the pressures of growing up have found their way into the script. Roshan has been conducting theatre workshops with adolescents for over a decade.

Roshan says, “The film is based on my play Graffiti and is a film about four teenagers who are graduating from school.” He adds that since a school becomes a memory bank of your firsts— first crush, test, fight, friend — it is laced with innocent memories.

He admits, “During one of my workshops, some kids in Delhi asked if they could write for me. I agreed. What they came up with were interesting, innocent first encounters that occur in school.” Back then, these inputs were used in his play and then adapted to the film when he started writing it.

However, Roshan insists that the film, starring Giselli Monteiro, Zoa Morani, Satyajeet Dubey and Ali Fazal, is not just aimed at what he calls the “Google generation” but also at anyone who has gone through school life.

SRK disapproves of lyrics with new lingos

MUMBAI: Superstars and sleaze don’t go hand in hand and won’t be in tune either.

Case in point is none other than superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Khan was taken aback by some words in the lyrics of his new film like — JFI which means ‘just forget it’, PAW, decoded as ‘parents are watching’. And the final clinching one that got SRK all worked up, ‘Understand the condition of the situation’ shortened to ‘undie the condi’, a phrase that the actor expressly objected to, since the word ‘undie’ sounded deceptively similar to a certain ‘indecent’ term used in the South

Indian language.

These words and more, were a prickly problem for Shah Rukh, when he encountered the lingo in the lyrics of Always Kabhi Kabhi, his venture from Red Chillies Idiot Box being helmed by Roshan Abbas. Reportedly, the super icon had a swift meeting with Abbas and tunesmith Pritam to iron out matters. As per insiders, SRK told Abbas that the lyrics sounded too ‘sleazy’ for comfort and in the process learnt a thing or two about the new ‘fundas and lingo’ of the youth, the Gen Z of today.

In a media statement, Abbas states that SRK was ‘stunned’ over the use of such terms.

“I know today’s generation says

some weird things, but this is really different,” King Khan is reported to have said.

No place for sleaze in Shah Rukh’s upcoming home production

Mumbai: Taking cue from the current crop of filmmakers who are bearing brunt of the censor board for the use of sleazy words in dialogues and songs, the once bitten twice shy producer Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t want to take any chances for his next home production called ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’.

SRK recently met director Roshan Abbas and music director Pritam to discuss an issue which troubled him more than anything else. Apparently, the actor-filmmaker had a problem with the phrase Undie the condi, which is used in a song.

Shah Rukh told Abbas that he was not happy with the lyrics and the song sounded sleazy. Abbas explained that it is only a shortform of the phrase that the youth use for `Understand the Condition`. Shah Rukh needed to be further convinced, and so Abbas showed Shah Rukh the research papers.

Roshan Abbas said, "I was telling him about the songs, when this discussion started. He asked me `why are we doing this and what does it mean?` Shah Rukh was of the opinion that we should not use words like `undie` and it sounded like kundi, which means bum in the South. I told him that this is actually a phrase which people use in North India.

“They use the phrase `Undie the condi of the situ`, which means `understand the condition of the situation`. I also pointed out that this was, in fact, a popular phrase in school in the North and it has been passed down many batches now."

Abbas added, "Since the film is about youngsters and targets youngsters, we have used many phrases like JFI which means `just forget it` and PAW, which means `parents are watching`, etc, although I have not used PAW in my film. The kids do use these phrases and SRK was stunned and said, I know that today`s generation says some weird things, but this is really different."

Shahrukh Khan wants to keep it clean

It's clear that Shahrukh Khan is weary of tarnishing his reputation in B-town and the superstar has gone to great lengths to make sure that gossip mongers and tabloids don't get much mileage out of his professional or private life but is the star taking it a little too far?

Shah Rukh recently met up with Roshan Abbas and Pritam, the director and music director of his new production Always Kabhi Kabhi; the agenda was certain lyrics for one of the songs in the film. Yes King Khan had a problem with the phrase "undie the condi", which appears in one of the musical numbers, feeling it was too sleazy.

Shahrukh Khan is very aware of the Censor Board too and is keen to protect his new project which lead to the meeting. Roshan had to explain that the term is slang for the term "Understand the condition" and had to back up his assertion with actual evidence before SRK was convinced.

Apparently, Shahrukh Khan is quite dumbfounded by the type of weird language used by the youngsters these days.

Roshan Abbas said, "I was telling him about the songs, when this discussion started. He asked me 'why are we doing this and what does it mean?' Shah Rukh was of the opinion that we should not use words like 'undie' and it sounded like kundi, which means bum in the South. I told him that this is actually a phrase which people use in North India.

"They use the phrase 'Undie the condi of the situ', which means 'understand the condition of the situation'. I also pointed out that this was, in fact, a popular phrase in school in the North and it has been passed down many batches now."

Abbas added, "SRK was stunned and said, I know that today’s generation says some weird things, but this is really different."

Perhaps SRK needs to stay in touch with a younger crowd.

Asin ready to work with Shahrukh Khan

Asin and Shah Rukh Khan are likely to romance each other on screen in the adaptation of 2 States and everyone has been curious to know if there is any love lost between her and Salman Khan.

Well, Asin set’s the record straight and explains that Salman Khan has been in the industry for such a long time that she does not foresee any issues in working with any actor, even if it is Shahrukh Khan. Sounds quite logical to us!

We might remind our readers that is it not just Asin who is playing the leading lady for the Khan’s. Kareena Kapoor has upcoming movies with Shahrukh (Ra.One), Salman (Bodyguard), Aamir (unnamed), and Saif Ali Khan (Agend Vinod) and Katrina Kaif has recently signed up to play the lead opposite both Salman and Shahrukh Khan.

Asin made her debut in Hindi films with Aamir Khan; followed it up with two films with Salman Khan. Now, Asin is expected to play the lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the adaptation of 2 States.

2 States is the story of Krish and Ananya who hail from Delhi and Tamil Nadu, two different states of India. They become friends while studying together at IIM Ahmedabad and soon their friendship turns into love. But they have a big problem facing them: their parents, who are against this cross cultural marriage. How they overcome this problem and get married is what the remaining story is about.

Still a relatively newcomer to Bollywood, Asin is not one to be pulled into any controversy, the smart actress when questioned about the rivalry between Salman and Shahrukh Khan simply refuses to acknowledge the existence of any such thing.

We await on the final word on the launch of 2 States with SRK and Asin.

Zoa and Giselli get a sneak peek at Shahrukh’s Ra.One

The cast members of Always Kabhi Kabhi were curious to know what it was like to shoot a big budget film like Ra.One and Shah Rukh Khan surprised them by showing them portions of the sci-fi thriller.

Shahrukh Khan did not interact with the young cast of Always Kabhi Kabhi while they were shooting the film as he did not want to overwhelm them with his presence. However, he did shoot for an item song Antenna with them. The song has turned out to be a treat for SRK fans!

Apparently, it was after the shoot for the song that the cast got to view the first rushes of Ra.One and that too in the most unexpected of places -- Shahrukh’s vanity van.

Always Kabhi Kabhi director Roshan Abbas who himself got a chance to see the first rushes and some songs of Ra.One along with young actors Zoa Morani, Giselli Monteiro, Ali Fazal, Satyajit Dubey, reveals the unexpected experience to a daily, saying "the kids were blown away after they saw the rushes. The sheer size and scale of Ra.One is overwhelming! Ali says it was like entering a space shuttle."

We must say, they are a lucky bunch! The rest of us have to make do with the Ra.One trailer.

Welcome to Shahrukh Khan the superhero. Yes, the actor will be seen doing some breathtaking stunts in his upcoming film Ra.One. He jumps from buildings, zooms on his bike through crowded alleys and dodges bullets. G.One (Shahrukh Khan) dices with death on every step of the way in this film directed by Anubhav Sinha. Besides Shahrukh, the movie stars Arjun Rampal (villain) and Kareena Kapoor (leading lady).

Genius' Shahrukh knows what the audience wants

Not many are aware that Shahrukh Khan knew his 'Always Kabhi Kabhi' director Roshan Abbas since their theatre days together in Delhi. More than two decades back, Roshan was Shahrukh's junior in theatre and the first time director has been impressed with the 'baadshah' of Bollywood ever since then.

"There are two things that I find incredibly tremendous about this man. One is his focus and another is his creativity," RJ turned filmmaker shares his own reasons behind such high regard that he holds for Shahrukh Khan, "He is someone who always looks for what audience wants. This isn't something which is coming to him today; he has been like that forever."

Narrating an example of his creativity, he adds, "I remember how after he became a star, we did some chat shows together. At times we didn't even have a script in hand but he still managed to do things impromptu. I used to ask him a few things and he used to reply to them in his characteristic funny manner."

The same creativity ran into the making of 'Always Kabhi Kabhi' as well. Once the script was locked, cast finalised and production plans put together, work also began on how to present the film to the audience.

"Shahrukh came up with some brilliant ideas at the very inception of the film," says Roshan, "He is a genius."

With Giselle Monteiro, Ali Fazal, Zoa Morani and Satyajeet Dubey in principal roles and also starring Satish Shah, Lilette Dubey, Vijay Raaz, Mukesh Tiwari and Manoj Joshi, 'Always Kabhi Kabhi' releases all over on 17th June.

Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan, Rani Mukherji, Shahid Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Imran Khan and Karishma Kapoor were just some of the stars that attended the birthday bash.

It was not just Bollywood's A-listers that showed their love for the director but fans around the world wished the director happy birthday via twitter. Karan Johar showed his appreciation thanking fans for their love, he tweeted "Thank you all for all the love on my birthday!!! I feel truly blessed and very humbled...huge hug to all of you!!"

Karan Johar is getting back in the directors seat as his next film Student Of The Year is set to go on the floor in July. The film stars debutants Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan in lead roles.

Bollywood: Ready – Kinofilm mit Asin und Salman Khan absolut gefragt

Ready
Ready

Here's what to expect from Don 2 teaser

The world is waiting for the first teaser of Don 2, but what if we bring it to you right here and right now? As always, you get it here first on Bollywood Hungama. Don't be surprised! You may not be able to see the promo of Don 2 so soon but you may picture it in your mind.

A close source who happened to see the sneak peek of Don 2 teaser trailer a few weeks ago informs us, "Don 2 is a true sequel to make, cause to make a sequel to an original story like Don it is very difficult to keep up to the expectations of the first film. The teaser surely does live up to that expectations and what a teaser it is. Don 2 looks bigger in terms of visuals and content and action. We always wanted to know how Farhan Akhtar is going to do it but after the trailer it seems Farhan and Shah Rukh Khan have hit the nail bang on and hard."

The source gave
Bollywood Hungama the first exclusive sneak peek into the next big thing coming from SRK, Farhan and Excel Entertainment, "The teaser kicks off with SRK in jail in his dreadlocked look. There are cuts of SRK's introduction and a background song that signifies that he is back. It's the theme of Don playing in your ears as you see the action ripple the big screen. There are explosions and SRK jumping off a tall building and Priyanka Chopra coming in small clips here and there. It's a one minute teaser where you also see SRK standing on a small power jet boat with wind hitting his hair introducing the fearless Don aka Shah Rukh Khan. The trailer ends with explosion and smoke coming out SRK's mouth, a continuation from the last shot of how Don ended."

One thing's sure from the above Don 2 trailer description: There is no smoke without fire and Don 2 surely looks a sizzling date at the box office that's going to burn the celluloid with its grandness of action sequences and explosions. Can you guys visualise it?

Always Kabhi Kabhi Cast Gets A Sneak Peek At Ra.One

Shah Rukh Khan showed the first rushes his next big release, Ra.One to the cast of his home production Always Kabhi Kabhi.

The actor is known for holding exclusive pre-release screenings of his upcoming movies for close friends and family members.

This time he made an exception and gave the young guns of Always Kabhi Kabhi Zoa Morani, Giselli Monteiro, Ali Fazal, Satyajit Dubey and also director Roshan Abbas, a sneak peek into Ra.One.

This happened when they were shooting for the film's song Antenna.

Says a source, "The shooting of the song got over at 2 am and SRK was heading home. Satyajit asked him about the experience of shooting a big and expensive film like Ra.One. Acting impromptu, Shah Rukh invited all of them to his vanity van. Roshan did try to dissuade the kids saying that SRK might be tired but he called them in and showed them the songs and major portions of the sci-fi thriller."

Roshan Abbas says, "The kids were blown away after they saw the rushes. The sheer size and scale of Ra.One is overwhelming! Ali says it was like entering a space shuttle."

So were the kids also beleaguered by King Khan's presence on the sets of Always Kabhi Kabhi? Roshan says, "During the shoot SRK deliberately stayed away. He did not want the new actors to be overwhelmed by his presence. But in the last month, he met and interacted with them. He told them to enjoy this moment and do their parents proud! On one occasion Shah Rukh mentioned that while growing up, he was glad to have his mother's support. She called him her Dilip Kumar."

SRK retires hurt after he’s booed at IPL game

It was touted as the clash of the tournament. On Wednesday night, as Wankhede played host to a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians, many saw it as the ultimate faceoff between two iconic Mumbaikars- Shah Rukh Khan and Mukesh Ambani.

And while the Ambani clan turned up in their all-blue regalia, cheering for their team, the KKR stand was shorn of its brightest star.

Shah Rukh Khan was not there. In fact he was far away, in the cosy confines of Mannat, watching the match on his giant LCD screen with good friend Karan Johar and other close friends.

And while the world was led to believe Khan was celebrating his best buddy's birthday - K Jo turned 39 last night - we were told by some of his closest friends that SRK's absence had a lot to do with a bruised ego as well.

Speaking exclusively to Mumbai Mirror, SRK's close friend and Juhi Chawla's husband, Jai Mehta, said, "The last time Shah Rukh turned up for a KKR match in the city, he was booed by a large section of the crowd. It hurt him badly."

The match, which was held at Navi Mumbai's D Y Patil Stadium on May 19, saw KKR give Pune Warriors a sound drubbing.

Hurt, Shah Rukh Khan has vowed never to turn up for any KKR match in any of the city stadiums

It was a high-pitched contest, because it saw Sourav Ganguly playing against his former home team for the first time.

While all those who expected fireworks between Ganguly and SRK were disappointed, a section of the crowd did not take SRK's win sportingly.

Mumbai Mirror has learnt that the Badshah confessed to his closest pals that the booing and the jeering from his "own people" left him bruised. "After doing so much for this city, this is not what I expected," he reportedly told his friends. "And he has vowed never to turn up for any KKR match in any of the city stadiums," Jai Mehta added.

This is not the first time that SRK has exposed his vulnerable side. Some time ago, the star swore off micro-blogging site Twitter, after being hit by a volley of abusive messages.

"Twitter broke my heart," he said, "I need to cut myself off from negative energies."

SRK had an exemplary journey in the industry, says Anupama Chopra

Eminent film critic and writer Anupama Chopra's new book 'First Day First Show' has already become a success with Shahrukh Khan's write up in its introductory page.

In an exclusive interview with the IANS, when Anupama was asked why did she chose Shahrukh to pen down the foreword for her book, the writer candidly articulated that the superstar's journey in the industry has been a very challenging and special one, and it is he who could summarize the changes in the film industry better than anyone else.

While addressing IANS, Anupama said, "I asked him to write the foreword because he is somebody whose career I have followed very closely and who in a sense to me is one who actually exemplified the journey. The three Khans have really spearheaded Bollywood. So for me he was the best person to encapsulate how much things have changed."

Anupama had earlier written King Khan's biography that was titled as 'King of Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan and the seductive world of Indian cinema'.

About 'First Day First Show'
Anupama's new book 'First Day First Show' is all about the changes that have crept into the film industry, in the last 20 years.

'First Day First Show' is a collection of the author's very own former write-ups.

Talking about her new book, Anupama said, "It's the collection of the work that I have done. The idea was to put the articles together so that it shows how much Bollywood has evolved in the last 20 years. It sort of becomes the history of modern Bollywood. It's to see where we were in 1993 and now it seems like another world."

My relationship with film fraternity is very professional, says Anupama
Though Anupama has been happily married to the famous moviemaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra and as such is close to B-town celebs, the writer makes it very clear that her work has never been influenced by any of her associations in the industry.

Speaking about her association with the film industry, Anupama said, "My relationship with the film fraternity, apart from my husband, of course, is very professional. It's not that I am close friend with anyone. So I can tell you with all honesty that I have never been a case of being biased."

Shah Rukh Khan 'fans' in Delhi burn effigies of Thackerays

NEW DELHI: Scores of people claiming to be Shahrukh Khan fans today held a protest in Central Delhi against Shiv Sena for targeting actor Shah Rukh Khan and his film 'My Name is Khan'.

Shouting slogans, the protesters led by local MLA Iqbal, gathered near Delite cinema in Daryaganj and burnt the effigies of Sena leaders Bal Thackeray and his son Uddhav.

Shiv Sena had yesterday threatened it will not allow the screening of the film in cinemas and multiplexes in the National Capital Region.

Bollywood: Brasilianisches Model Giselli Monteiro lobt Shahrukh Khan

Always Kahbi Kabhi

Giselle Monteiro talks about SRK's Always Kabhi Kabhi

Brazilian model Giselli Monteiro is back as a trendy school girl in Roshan Abbas’s Always Kabhi Kabhi. AKK is a Shah Rukh Khan production.

Yes, Giselle Monteiro, the Brazilian beauty who left everyone flummoxed with her incredibly convincing portrayal of a Punjabi girl in Love Aaj Kal, now stars in Shahrukh Khan’s production Always Kabhi Kabhi.

Giselle is here to stay, this beauty has since taken Hindi classes and is focused on making an impact in Bollywood. Considering her limitations with the language, she has decided to take it slow, work on one film at a time, and make the best of the opportunity.

AKK will see her play the sweet and shy school girl Aishwarya Dhawan in the film, and though Giselle can now speak more Hindi, she still has a limited number of dialogues in the film.

How Giselle Monteiro caught Shahrukh Khan’s eye!

The girl reveals that it was her performance in Love Aaj Kal that caught Shahrukh Khan’s eye. Consequently, she was roped in to play a pivotal role in Always Kabhi Kabhi, directed by Roshan Abbas.

"I was told by Roshan that Shah Rukh spotted me in Love Aaj Kal and wanted me for the film." reveals Giselle

Giselle adds that Shahrukh guided the film’s actors throughout the making of the film.

"Right through the making of the film, he had suggestions for us. However, he used to pass them on to Roshan, who further helped us with our scenes," said Giselle, adding, "I’m told that he wanted us to be natural and on our own than worry about what he thought of our performance."

‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’ is slated to release on June 17. The film also stars Zoa Morani, Ali Fazal and Satyajeet Dube.

Actor Zoa Morani, Giselle Monteiro , Ali Fazal and Satyajeet Dubey along with the director of the film, Roshan Abbas highlighted the key points of the film and its youth-oriented content.

“Always Kabhi Kabhi is about teens and their life spent scribbling notes and writing exams,” Roshan said.

Speaking on the young actors who will be seen in the film, Roshan said: “ The naturalness of the actors is great, I did not want to use established people. So we have new people who are freash and having a natural chemistry in the film.”

On the otherhand, Brazilian actor Giselle Monteiro, who earlier won audience heart in Love Aajkal, informed that it was more important for her to prepare Hindi properly for the role that she is portraying in this film.

“See the transformation for ‘Love Aj Kal’ was more tough than this film as the character of school life and students are the same all over the globe,” she said.

The film has been produced by Shahrukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan and is all set to hit the silver screen on Jun 17.

On Monday, SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment under whose banner this film is made, collaborated with popular writing device manufacturer Linc Pens, which supportedthe film.

The Always Kabhi Kabhi cast teamed up with Linc to unveil the special edition co-branded Glycer pens on Monday.

It seems like Shahrukh Khan does not mind showing off his endless love for KKR! Be it on the field or off the field, SRK makes it a point to wear the colour purple! He was spotted in a cool purple T-shirt, yet again! While Priyanka Chopra looked elegant in her retro look wearing a powder-pink sari in net. Her hairdo with big flowers also caught our fancy.

RA.One: the most awaited film of 2011

On Day One of 2011, we surveyed a cross-section of distributors, exhibitors and trade analysts to arrive at the film that according to them deserves the tag of the most eagerly awaited film of the year. Predictably, it is Shah Rukh Khan’s RA.One, closely followed by Reema Kagti’s suspense thriller with Aamir Khan.

The curiosity surrounding RA.One is attributed to Shah Rukh’s absence from cinemas after My Name Is Khan in February last year and the fact that it’s one of this year’s Diwali releases. Analyst Komal Nahta of Film Information explains, “The film has kept Shah Rukh on his toes. It’s his most ambitious project so far and one of the most expensive films made in Bollywood. Heavy special effects and constant comparison with Robot have heightened expectations.”

Director Kagti’s second film has become the talk of the town because Aamir, apart from playing the lead, is also co-producing it. Suniel SRKWadhwa, a distributor from the Central Province, believes that the actor’s entry in the suspense thriller genre has added to the trade’s eagerness for the release of the project. “He has a reputation of delivering bigger hits in successive years. So, we’re keeping our fingers crossed,” he adds.

Power of 2
For the Khans, it’s also a year of two films each: RA.One and Don 2 for Shah Rukh, Bodyguard and Ready for Salman, and Dhobi Ghat and Kagti’s next for Aamir. Distributor Sanjay Mehta from Delhi believes that the Don sequel will be intriguing to watch because of its location and the fact that Don with Shah Rukh was a remake of the 1970s hit. “I’m also curious about Agneepath and Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara with Hrithik Roshan. They should be worth the wait too.”

Saif Ali Khan, apart from Agent Vinod, will start filming Aarakshan; Imran Khan will be seen in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Short Term Shaadi; Akshay Kumar has his hopes pinned on Patiala House, Thank You and Desi Boyz; and Abhishek Bachchan is praying for either Game, Dum Maaro Dum or Players to put an end to his run of flops. Trade pundit Amod Mehra asserts that 2011 is poised to be the ‘biggest year’ for the industry because “at least Rs 2,000 crore is riding on ‘big ticket’ films, of which about Rs 400 crore is riding on Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh’s films alone.”

Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts feels that Salman’s Ready will be lapped up with an increased hype closer to its release in May. “Salman also has Bodyguard which releases close to Eid. I’m quite hopeful that it could repeat the Dabangg success for him,” he adds.

The business brains in our survey agreed that the best has been saved for the second half of the year, as always. In the meantime, viewers have No One Killed Jessica, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, 7 Khoon Maaf, Delhi Belly and Players to choose from.

From the perspective of box office collections, Ashish Saxena of Big Cinemas states that after a lot of films crossed the Rs 50 crore mark last year, the expected stakes and returns on RA.One, Don 2, Ready, Bodyguard, Agneepath and Agent Vinod, to name a few, are higher this year: “We hope to do a lot better this year with a fleet of promising films from leading actors.”

SRK presented with graphic version of Always Kabhi Kabhi

Shahrukh Khan certainly likes to put his directors into some 'testing times'. In the case of Always Kabhi Kabhi, first time director Roshan Abbas presented the story to him as a rom-com graphic novel before it could be approved for conversion into a feature film. Now this one could well be a first in Bollywood, because though it is a common practice to have an idea being presented as a show-reel or a pictorial illustration, there has never been a situation when an entire graphic novel is put together before being pitched for production.

"Shahrukh wants his films to be different but also commercially viable. That's something he has learnt since the days of his earlier productions like Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Asoka and Paheli, none of which worked at the box office. He doesn't go ahead and give his approval for a film just on the basis of a well sounding idea. He wants something much more than that, like a prototype which gives him an exact sense of what the final film would look like," informs a trade source who has closely followed Shahrukh's stint as a producer.

Another thing that Shahrukh is quite clear about is that even though he may be having quite a few friends in the industry who are most willing to work with him, he chooses only those who manage to impress him with their homework, are well prepared and quite clear about what they want.

"He has worked with the likes of old friends like Farah Khan (Main Hoon Naa, Om Shanti Om) and Aziz Mirza (Chalte Chalte) but that never meant that he wasn't open to other options," continues the trade source, "It's an idea that matters and hence when Anubhav Sinha approached him for Ra.One and Roshan Abbas presented him the synopsis of Always Kabhi Kabhi, he gave them a go ahead to flesh these out further."

Many were surprised though, because Anubhav came soon after Cash while Roshan hasn't made a film before. Also, SRK and Abbas have never been known as his thick friends, unlike Farah and Aziz who were a part of his inner circle. So while Anubhav went on to spend more than a couple of years just on getting his writing and other pre-production activities right for Ra.One, Roshan too got busy with getting the visual representation of Always Kabhi Kabhi in place so that he could convince Shahrukh to make the film.

"Yes, it was a challenge for me to see the idea to Shahrukh and for that I did present a graphic novel of Always Kabhi Kabhi which visually described the spirit of the film," confirms Roshan, "I sketched out a large part of the film to show what it would eventually look like. Since I had the screenplay pretty much ready, I went to him with the right scenes instead of selling something which was in thin air. There was a definite plan in place and once Shahrukh liked what I had to say, I explained how this novel would further translate into a full-blown film. Of course, he liked what he saw and bringing the floor from that point on wasn't tough."

SRK eyes Aamir Khan's director

Shah Rukh Khan eyeing Salman Khan's Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap is old news now. However the King Khan has not changed his ways. The superstar now has his eyes on another big director who was worked under another Khan Camp.

Shah Rukh Khan recently met Abhinay Deo, who has directed Delhi Belly starring Imran Khan and produced by Aamir Khan. It seems like, all the buzz that the film has generated ever since its first promo was aired, has also caught the notice of Shah Rukh Khan. And despite the fact that Abhinay Deo directed a dud as his debut in the form of Game , his other work seems to be good enough to impress SRK.

If the buzz is to be believed, Shah Rukh met Abhinay Deo, just after the promo launch of Delhi Belly that happened last week. "Abhinay is a popular ad-filmmaker and Shah Rukh's company Red Chillies produces several ads. So perhaps that could also be one of the reasons that the actor met the director", reasons an industry insider.

Even earlier Shah Rukh Khan had met AR Murgadoss, after he directed the superhit film Ghajini with Aamir Khan. Together they were working on a project which unfortunately never materialized. Let's see if SRK gets lucky this time around in winning Khan's director.

Common factor between Khans

The three Khans of Bollywood might have given sufficient grist to the rumor mills to churn out some really spicy stuff but there is something common between the three frenemy. Yes, definitely the success that they have accomplished but also the way the define it!

The Dabangg Khan is riding high on the success when it comes to box-office and small screen. On asking Salman how he defines the victory and popularity, the man with the golden heart said, “For me success is nothing because 'sab ka time hota hai'. (sic) I have been through rough patches and I have also seen problems, so for me it’s all about the time. It’s all about people who love you and that is my actual reward.”

Shahrukh and Salman Khan may show no signs of cordial terms between them but SRK also considers success as something to be not flattered about. King Khan doesn’t think himself as a superstar and about the same he explained, “I don’t consider myself to be a superstar. I just want to make people smile after watching my movies. It’s my duty to entertain audience.”

Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood also doesn’t seem to disagree with two Khans and define success in a similar manner. “I really don’t know how to define success. I can say that if you have power use it for good things, I never misuse my power. I strongly believe doing good work is important, success will follow. Use your ability to grow in life,” Aamir said.

Aamir, Salman and Shahrukh are equally successful stars of tinsel villa and their parallel thoughts clearly indicate that even if they are poles apart, they have something in common!

The latest buzz is that Asin will be the heroine opposite Shahrukh Khan in his next film titled 2 States, a screen adaption of Chetan Bhagat's bestseller 'Two States'.

Shah Rukh writes a foreword for a new book

Shah Rukh Khan has written a foreword for Anupama Chopra's forthcoming book on Bollywood First Day First Show. He writes, "She takes us into the lives of the stars, and into the struggles of those who never make it to centre stage; she lets us participate in the making of legendary hits like Sholay and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge... she shows us the glamour as well as the murky links with the underworld. There is also the odd story of the royal bodyguard of Bhutan who became a scriptwriter; of the embarrassed Pakistani soldiers at Wagah border who could not allow their favourite Indian superstars to shoot."

KKR owners shrug off loss against MI

Kolkata: It wasn’t a good night for Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday after the Mumbai Indians sealed a nail-biting last-ball finish, virtually snatching the victory from KKR’s reach. The fans might have left the stadium in disgust, but owners Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla weren’t too downbeat about the result.

"There is only one positive, we win the final it makes us harder, faster, stronger, better and we’ll be back here on the 29th under the Howrah bridge to celebrate the fact that we won the IPL championship." SRK said.

Confidence is one thing that the Knight Riders have exuded this season and SRK is following suit as always with the Bollywood icon confident that his side can exact revenge in a matter of days. Shah Rukh also took the opportunity to take a dig at television expert Navjot Singh Sidhu who danced to celebrate MI’s last gasp victory and even promised that the Knights would clinch the tie at Wankhede.
"Now we are going to do much better, I saw Navjot Singh Sidhu dance because we lost. I am going to dance much better, I am better looking, I will make sure that we win this now." SRK said.

"We’ve won eight already so we’ll win three more and I am happy because I was missing the matches now we have to play one extra match to play so the kids will enjoy."he added.

Juhi on the other hand believes that the team has done very well this season by reaching the play-offs and is extremely proud of the achievements of the boys. "I am very happy that it was a very close match, till the last over we were very hopeful that we will win. But in the last over something happened and the tables turned.I am very proud that KKR is in the semis, in the earlier years we were nowhere to be seen. So we are very hopeful." she said.

The Knight Riders have shown enough fight under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir to bounce back. And SRK for one is very confident that the Knights will recover from this bitter blow and win the title for the city.

With confidence oozing, SRK even urged the city to support the team and even revealed how he would celebrate if KKR were to win the title on the 28th

SRK Wishes Speedy Recovery To `Superhero' Rajini

Calling him `superhero', Shah Rukh Khan has prayed for speedy recovery for the Tamil superstar Rajinikanth.

"Suddenly felt awful yesterday while driving back from the match to know Rajni sir is unwell. He is our superhero...insha allah he will be well soon," Shah Rukh said on micro-blogging site twitter.

SRK: I am still waiting to be a superstar

Shah Rukh Khan, who has been busy with his movies Ra.One and Don: The Chase Continues, took some time out to promote his new production Always Kabhi Kabhi, its young cast and debutant director Roshan Abbas.

SRK addressed a press conference and talked about the film, today's youth and why he doesn't think he's a superstar.

The film is titled Always Kabhi Kabhi. What is it that you 'Always' do and what is it that you do 'Kabhi Kabhi'?

I am an actor. So I 'Always' lie, and 'Kabhi Kabhi' say the truth (Smiles).

Could you identify with the film?

Roshan has done an excellent job with the film. He did a thorough research. I could easily connect to the youth genre. The way today's school-going kids deal with their lives has completely changed.

There were things I could not do when I was in school. So I couldn't identify with a lot of things in the film. But I learnt a lot from it. The lead actors romanced pretty girls in the film, which I never got the chance to do.

Did you dream of becoming an actor when you were in school?

I never thought that I would become an actor or come to Mumbai and become successful. I wished to become an actor. I also wished to become a sportsman. There were some dreams that I could not fulfill for certain reasons.
