Kolkata, Mar 30 (PTI) Kolkata Knight Riders today moved the Calcutta High Court praying that they be allowed to use loudspeakers on match days. KKR moved a division bench comprising Justice P K Ray and Justice Dipankar Gupta seeking an order directing the state government to give permission to use loudspeakers as there was no educational institution in close vicinity of the stadium. The Shahrukh Khan-owned KKR, which is scheduled to play its first IPL match at the Eden Gardens here on April five, stated in its petition that the West Bengal Pollution Control Board had on January 13 banned use of loudspeakers in residential and educational areas in view of board examinations. KKR submitted that on February 26, it extended the ban to open areas, including places like the Eden Gardens. It stated that citing the ban, the authorities refused to give KKR permission to use loudspeakers at Eden Gardens during the IPL matches. The bench directed that the matter would be taken up for hearing on Monday.
