Zoa Morani: ALWAYS KABHI KABHI didn't happen through my family

You might think that having a father who has Bollywood connections and has also produced films in the past, would have made life much easier for Zoa Morani, who is making her debut in ALWAYS KABHI KABHI. But Zoa insists that it wasn't the case for her.

"I have seen Bollywood closely because my father was a producer. So I always wanted to be an actor. But ALWAYS KABHI KABHI didn't happen through my family. Roshan Abbas saw a few pictures of mine through a friend of his and thought I was perfect for the character of Nandani. I had no earlier modeling or acting experience. So Roshan had to train me for the role."

ALWAYS KABHI KABHI has many newcomers associated with it. Roshan Abbas is the debutant director. Even the other actors are newcomers. Ask Zoa if it's a good thing to have so many newcomers in a film and she says, "I thank God this film has so many newcomers. There was never any stress on the sets. I never felt scared of Rohan Abbas. If I had any doubts, I could approach him easily. Since we all were newcomers, everyone was at the same level. We used to eat and chill together. It was very easy to open up on the sets."

On being questioned about producer Shahrukh Khan's involvement in the film, the young actress says, "Shahrukh Khan was never on the sets. He was shooting for DON 2 and RA.ONE. But he was very interested in the script and music of the film."

And does Zoya feel any pressure acting in a Shahrukh Khan film? "Of course yes. He's such a big name. If he produces a film, it has to be of a certain level. The minute you say it's a Red Chillies film, the pressure comes. He has given us such a big chance. I hope we can make him proud."

ALWAYS KABHI KABHI is slated to release this Friday.
