Story
Khan plays a Miami based software engineer named Shekhar, who as a video-game hero takes on his self-created techno-monster Ra One. When he falls in love with Kareena, Khan imagines her as one of the characters.
Khan's character in the film is called G.One for Good One (In Hindi, G.One means life!).
"G.One is made of solid electricity...he has come in the real world from a virtual one to fight against RA.one the evil force," SRK says.
The actor, who has had to loose a lot of weight for his super-hero roles, joked over Twitter on May 31, that he feels as if G.One stands for Gaunt One.
Arjun Rampal
Arjun Rampal's character plays villain in the film.
"Ra.One is a very ambitious project. It's a film that kids will enjoy for sure. It's not only for kids but the idea is also to bring action to a different level. It's hugely experimental," says Arjun Rampal.
Kareena
Kareena plays the lead role opposite Shah Rukh as the mother of a 8-year-old. When Shah Rukh falls in love with Kareena, he imagines her as one of the characters.
Shahana
Shahana's character in the film helps out Shah Rukh's when a gaming character causes problems for him.

Shah Rukh Khan Turns Screenplay Writer With RA.One
Shah Rukh has contributed substantially to the screenplay of his ambitious home production. He has written a few pages of the screenplay and the film's closing credits will show his name along with Hollywood writer David Benullo and Kanika Dhillon.
Yash Chopra on Board
Shah Rukh, who is currently filming two songs for his ambitious home production, had Yash Chopra direct part of a song. During the shoot he had Russian president pay a visit on the set. (December 24, 2010)

Shah Rukh Khan Getting His Six Pack Abs Back
After Om Shanti Om Shah Rukh Khan will be once again flaunting his six pack abs for his ambitious superhero film RA.One. Khan is currently filming for promotional songs in Mumbai. He denies going shirtless in the film but admits to working on his six packs.
"I am not going shirtless but yeah I have got my three packs back and certainly working on getting three more soon. We are presently shooting the song in Filmistan Studios," Shah Rukh told TOI. (Dec 18, 2010)
Filming Promotional Songs
Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Shahana Goswami and Chinese co-star Tom Wu are filming for the first promoitional song for the film at Filmistan Studios. Ganesh Hegde is the choreographer.
Shooting for the second song will begin on December 22.

Shah Rukh Khan will host American singer Akon in Mannat in December when the singer will record one more song for RA.One. The RA.One team felt extended presence of Akon will help the film.

Shah Rukh Khan has hired Martin Walsh (Chicago) to edit the film.

Shah Rukh and Arjun Rampal's Multi Crore Super Hero Costumes in RA.One
Its not only Shah Rukh Khan who gets to wear multiple superhero costumes in the film that cost crores of Rupees. Arjun Rampal gets to wear nine of the super expensive body suits in the film. Both Arjun and Khan had to loose lots of weight to fit into the body suits.
" “It was a challenge for both Shah Rukh and me. Thank God, we were shooting abroad, that made it easier,” he admits. “But now, when I see the results, they are a sweet memory. Release Date
In end August 2010, it was reported that the film will release on June 3, 2011. However, Shah Rukh Khan has since clarified that the release date has not yet been locked. (Sep 1, 2010)
London Filming Schedule Wrap Up
Shah Rukh Khan and the RA.One team wrapped up the film's London schedule August 12. Filming in London began in early July.

Shah Rukh Khan is falling back on the basics - romance and melody - even in his sci-fi super hero film RA.One
After getting his lucky mascot Karan Johar to lens the romantic scenes in RA.One, Khan has now also brought his lucky singer on board.
Sukhwinder Singh - who gave Shah Rukh two of the biggest hit songs: Chal Chaiyya chaiyya (Dil Se..) and Haule haule (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi) - recently recorded a song for RA.One which Shah Rukh will lip synch to in the film.

Karan Johar Lenses Parts of the Film
Shah Rukh Khan's superhero sci-fi thriller RA.One now has two directors - Karan Johar and Anubhav Sinha.
SRK summoned old and trusted friend Karan Johar to London as an additional director to help lens the romantic scenes in the film.
SRK says he needed Johar to speed up the project which has fallen behind schedule, while Mumbai tabloids report that SRK and Sinha were having creative differences. (July 27)

Tom Wu Signed Up
Chines American actor Tom Wu has been signed up for the film.
"...a big welcome to Tom Wu in the film cast. He is so humble and such a sport... really nice to have him on board," Shah Rukh, 44, posted on his Twitter page. Tom Wu, a martial arts expert, was earlier seen in films like "Revolver", "Shanghai Knights", "Batman Begins" and "Tomb Raider II"
Eros buys film rights
It has been reported that Eros International hasagreed to pay a whopping Rs175 crore for the film. An official from Eros International confirmed to Mumbai Mirror the purchase of the film but not the amount. (July 7, 2010)
Resumes Production
Production for RA.One has resumed in London in the first week of July after Shah Rukh returned from a family vacation through Europe.
The name of the film RA.One is short for Random Access Version 1
RA.One is a fun filled Sci Fi meets Superhero film with Bollywood feel good over the top garnishing.
The film's unit recently acquired a Ducat Mobile for Khan to ride on wearing a Rs 1 crore latex body suite, custom made for him as his super-hero costume.
Filming started on March 24, 2010. Filming in India wrapped up on June 11,2010.
Kareena Kapoor in RA.One
Kareena Kapoor plays lead in the film, opposite Khan, as a young mother of an eight-year old.
She is being styled by Manish Malhotra, her favorite designer, as a modern glamorous mom.
Hollywood Talent in RA.One
Khan's Red Chillies SFX is being assisted by top notch Hollywood technicians for the special effects - Nicola Pecorini as Cinematographer and Jeffrey Kleiser for Visual Effects.
Nicola is best known for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas / Cliffhanger / The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, while Jeffery's memorable films include X-Men / X2 / X-Men: The Last Stand
Other Hollywood talent that contributed to the film includes writer David Benullo (Around the World in 80 Days / Hallowed Ground)
While most of the filming crew will be from India, a few extras will be hired locally in Miami.
American singer Akon recorded a song for the film.
Film's Inspiration
What motivated Shah Rukh to make this genre film are son Aryan and his friends' love for action superhero films.
