Shahrukh Khan detained at New York airport again

Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan who arrived here to visit Yale University, was detained at New York airport for two hours by the immigration authorities. He was allowed to go only after the hosts intervened in the matter.

Shahrukh Khan visited Yale University where he was honoured as a Chubb Fellow. Khan later attended a reception and dinner at Timothy Dwight College at New Haven Connecticut with over 120 Yale students including members of the South Asian Society at Yale, before taking a return flight.

Khan revealed the facts when he was to address the students at Yale University after joining the roster of Yale University's Chubb Fellows. He mentioned that he was detained at the airport "as always happens." It is noted that it is one of the Ivy League institution's highest honours, for promoting human ideals through art.

Many dignitaries have all ready been honoured by the Chubb fellowship including presidents George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Jimmy Carter; authors Octavio Paz, Carlos Fuentes, and Toni Morrison; filmmaker Sofia Coppola; architect Frank Gehry; choreographer Mikhail Baryshnikov; and journalist Walter Cronkite.

It is the second time when King Khan has been detained in US on airports. In August 2009 he was stopped at the Newark Airport and was released after two hours at the intervention of the Indian consulate in New York.

Then he had blamed that it is a Muslim name and so the name is common on their checklist.
