1. Baazigar
Baazigar, (1993) Shahrukh Khan is cast opposite Kajol and won himself the Best Actor Award from Filmfare in 1993. In this movie he acted as a villain, his first such role. It is a thriller directed by Abbas Mustan. Through this movie which became a box office success, he proved his ability to be a great hero.
2. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), directed by Karan Johar, was simultaneously released in India and the United Kingdom. This movie was the fourth for Shahrukh Khan and Kajol to act together. Rani Mukherji took the role as supporting actress. Shahrukh Khan has a more mature role as a young widower with an 8-year old daughter. The film became a hit not only in India but also abroad. It won several prestigious awards in many categories including the Best Film Award by Filmfare, Aashirwad Awards, Sansui Viewers’ Choice Awards, Bollywood Movie Awards, Lux Zee Cine Award and National Film Awards.
3. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, DDLJ (1995). Directed by Aditya Chopra, this movie of Shahrukh Khan in which he again pairs with Kajol, also became a super hit both in India and abroad. It completed 15 years of non-stop running on Oct. 20th, 2009. This year in 2011, it is still playing at Maratha Mandir, Mumbai! It has earned over Rs.580 million. It is rated as good a movie as the famous Mother India. It has won 10 Filmfare Awards, one National Award and three Star Screen Awards.
4. Devdas
Devdas (2002) was a success at the box office. It was a super hit of its time. It is directed by Sanjay Leela Bansali. It starred Sahrukh Khan opposite Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. It was released in six language versions Punjabi, Mandarin, German, French, English and Thai. Shahrukh Khan’s acting as an alcoholic is considered his best ever and for this he won the Best Actor Award by Filmfare. In total, the film won 10 Filmfare Awards and 5 National Awards. It received nomination for Best Foreign Language Film (BAFTA) and was India’s entry at the Oscars for the Best Foreign Language Film.
5. Dil To Pagal Hai
Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) has Shahrukh Khan playing opposite Karishma Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit with supporting actor, Akshay Kumar.It is a comedy film, directed by Yash Chopra. It focuses on a dance troupe and the love life of the dancers. It was the first Bollywood film shot in Germany. It has won 8 Filmfare awards, 3 National Awards and 10 Zee Cine Awards, all in 1998.
