Shahrukh Khan confident of new Kolkata Knight Riders

King Khan thinks the new KKR is a stronger side. (AGENCY) He may have been at the receiving end of flak for not including Kolkata’s homeboy Sourav Ganguly in the team, but Shahrukh Khan is pretty confident that the revamped Kolkata Knight Riders will perform much better than KKR teams in previous three seasons of the IPL tournament. The team, helmed by Gautam Gambhir, indeed looks a stronger side than the previous ones. Its opening match with last year’s champs Chennai Super Kings went down to the wire and some might say that KKR would have won the game had they not self-destructed themselves. On Monday, Shahrukh Khan at last got a reason to cheer up as his team recorded its first win in IPL 4 against Deccan Chargers, the winners of the second IPL. Quite heartily, KKR posted a total of 163 on board (highest total so far in this tournament). The win was particularly special as it came at Eden Gardens in Kolkata where the crowd was lesser than expected but still cheered SRK’s team despite Ganguly’s absence. Sensing the mood of the Kolkatans, Shahrukh dedicated Tuesday’s win to Ganguly. “I came back only for the fans. I wanted to do this for Knight Riders, the fans of Kolkata. I wanted to do this for Sourav Ganguly. I want my team KKR to win the IPL for Kolkata and Sourav Ganguly,” Shahrukh said after the match. The superstar also expressed his confidence in the new team. “It is a stronger, more balanced side and I am sure we will perform well in this IPL,” Shahrukh said. The superstar has been more composed while cheering his team from the stands. Gone are the euphoric outbursts after the win. What we now see is a calmer SRK who’s seen losses one too many to know that it’s a long way to win the cup.
