Kolkata, Apr 6 (IANS): Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan Thursday said he felt "proud" about being West Bengal's brand ambassador.
"I am proud that I am the brand ambassador of Bengal. I am very happy. This is a proud city and proud state. We will plan the promotional shoot for Bengal very soon," said Shahrukh after a closed door meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat.
The meeting came hours before Kolkata Knight Riders, which is co-owned by the actor, began its IPL-V journey at Eden Gardens.
He also invited Banerjee to accompany him to Eden Gardens for the match.
"Shahrukh is a brother. He is the brand ambassador of Bengal. I will go with him to Eden Gardens," Banerjee said.
Shah Rukh Khan was accorded a rapturous welcome by thousands of fans as he entered the Eden Gardens for the team's opening Indian Premier League-V match against Delhi Daredevils.
The fans who had been waiting for the cinestar as he was busy meeting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat burst in loud roars of "Shah Rukh, Shah Rukh" and waved frantically at him as they entered the stadium together.
Khan, looking at the pouring sky, reciprocated the gesture throwing kisses and waving at the boisterous crowd.
He also met several children and signed autographs for them.
