Priyanka Chopra's blacklisting might be over. The actress, who many in the industry have been purposely avoiding due to her affair with Shahrukh Khan, has been approached to star in the remake of Zanjeer.
Zanjeer was one of Amitabh Bachchan's biggest hits, and joins Don and Agneepath in the Bollywood trend of remaking "The Angry Young Man's" films. Coincidentally Priyanka Chopra has played a role in all three.
So does PC's inclusion in what will surely be one of the most anticipated films of the next year mean the industry is warming back up to Priyanka? She's spent the better part of the last six months doing who knows what behind closed doors with herDon co-star Shahrukh Khan--and taking loads of grief for it.
SRK's wife, Gauri Khan, used her considerable industry influence to effectively shut Priyanka out of the business. She turned Hrithik Roshan against PC, and Karan Johar wanted nothing to do with Priyanka either. Stars like Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor were offered roles that had earlier been rumored to go to Priyanka, which PC had to be content with attending the Berlin Film Festival and the Grammys (which may sound glamorous but neither is a replacement for actual work).
But now Priyanka and Shahrukh are never seen together. Either they've ended their affair or have gotten extraordinarily good at hiding it. It sounds more like the affair is over, since Priyanka is being offered big-time roles again. Piggy Chops must have done some award-winning apologizing to get back in the industry's good graces again--let's hope it's worth it!
