India’s renowned playback singer, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who was once hailed as the voice of Shah Rukh Khan, has remarked that he will never sing for SRK again.
Abhijeet recently had an exclusive interview with the TOI, in which he said there are things he is hurt about.
The singer, now 53, stated Indian filmmaking industry never gives a singer his due credit. Abhijeet said no one out there knows who sings for Shah Rukh and this is discrimination.
Abhijeet told TOI, “I don’t know why our filmmakers never give singers due credit. During the end credits of ” Main Hoon Na”, the singers’ names appeared right at the end.”
Abhijeet further claimed that his voice has made SRK what he is today but now he will never sing for him until he apologizes to him.
He said, “Except for pubs and discotheques, where does one hear that song? But folks still fondly remember the “Chalte Chalte”, “Yes Boss” and “Main Hoon Na” numbers. It is these songs that have immortalised Shah Rukh. I will never sing for him again.”
Shahrukh Khan not too long ago locked many headlines in the country for having a fight with Farah Khan’s husband. Khan later on apologised to Farah’s husband and may be this is a reason why Abhijeet thinks apologising to him shouldn’t be a problem for Shah Rukh.
He concluded, “Sorry bol do! When you can make up with Farah Khan, whose husband tweeted rubbish about you, then there should be no problem with a simple man like me. But this is not about me. I want all singers to get their due. There is this one incident I just can’t forget.”
Well, it seems as if Abhijeet certainly has some problems with him because it hardly matters if he sings for SRK or not. SRK himself doesn’t want him to sing and the reason behind is obviously his voice, which has become old now.
