A wound heals but the scar remains. And that's something evident in Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan's new found friendship.
They may have kissed and made up on a flight from Toronto to Mumbai (Mumbai Mirror reported on July 4), and sorted out their personal differences but their professional tiff is still on.
This Christmas, the two actors are again preparing to keep aside their new 'good friends' status and backtrack to their professional animosity. Sunny's I Love New Year and SRK's Don 2 will clash at the box office on December 23 to revive their age-old rivalry.
A source said, "Bhushan Kumar's I Love New Year was previously slated to release on December 30th, but now it will release on December 23rd. Incidentally on the same day Shahrukh's Don 2 releases and his producers, Excel Entertainment had announced the date of release well in advance.
However, in this case more than Sunny, it appears, I Love New Year's director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru are responsible for this clash. This can also be their way to get back at SRK who refused to give them the title Happy New Year since the director duo is close to Salman Khan. They are confident about their film. However Bhushan Kumar, the producer of the film is in a fix as he is close to SRK."
Two years ago, at one of his parties, Subhash Ghai managed to break the ice between the actors but it was never the same. Our source said, "There has been a long history to their rivalry. Both of them worked together for the first and last time in Yash Chopra's Darr.
Sunny was a huge star back then while SRK was a newcomer. After the film released an otherwise soft spoken Sunny Deol lashed out at Yash Chopra and SRK for giving him a raw deal in the film. Sunny is someone who forgets but does not forgives.
Now both of them again met at the Toronto airport where they were present for an award ceremony and started chatting. However, that might be only on the personal level."
When contacted Ajay Kapoor, the co-producer of the film and director of T. Series said, "We are releasing the film on 23rd December. Don 2 and our film are as different as chalk and cheese. Our's is a romantic comedy."
When asked him about the history of rivalry between Sunny and SRK, he said, "We have not decided on the release date intentionally. The film is about new year so has to come around that time."
