Controlling Shahrukh Khan fans big concern during IPL: Cops

BHUBANESWAR: Police are on their toes to ensure foolproof security to spectators at Barabati Stadium on April 22 and May 1, when the Deccan Chargers (DC) will take on the Kolkata Night Riders and Pune Warriors. Controlling the fans of Shahrukh Khan, in particular, has become a major cause of concern for them.

"We would fine tune security plans to control crowd and provide security to players," twin city police commissioner B K Sharma told media persons on the sidelines of a preparatory meeting with the management of DC and Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) here on Saturday.

"Online ticket sale for the two matches would start from April 4. Tickets would be available at designated counters in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack from April 10," Girish Dongre, GM of Deccan Chargers said. While tickets would be sold from 13 counters in Bhubaneswar, three counters would be set up in Cuttack.

Worried over the entry of some unauthorized persons into Barabati Stadium during the India-West Indies ODI last November, commissioner Sharma asked the Deccan Chargers to take measures to prevent duplication or forgery of tickets.

Dongre said DC would deploy 110 people at different gates to check the authenticity of tickets through a dedicated scanning machine. Anticipating heavy rush, police asked DC to add some more personnel for frisking spectators at gates.
